🌈 Hey there, cloud enthusiasts! Swami K here, welcoming you back to another exciting edition of ‘Coffee Bytes with Cloud’ ☕️. Today, we’re going on an epic adventure with Walmart 🛍️, the superhero of the cloud world, as they embark on a mission to break the mold with their Walmart Cloud Platform! Buckle up, and let’s dive in 🌟!

Walmart’s cloud juggernaut: 🛍️ Breaking all the rules by merging private, public, and edge computing! 🌐✨

Once upon a time in the vast land of retail giants, Walmart decided to create a super cloud, the Walmart Cloud Platform 🦸‍♂️. Combining the powers of Azure, GCP, Walmart Private Clouds, and over 10,000 edge nodes, this cloud superhero brought together the best of private cloud, edge computing, multi-cloud, and hybrid-cloud under one mighty umbrella! ☂️

What was the purpose of this daring quest? Walmart wanted to merge their eCommerce and store clouds, creating a powerful system to handle supply chain facilities and corporate sites. With the help of Kubernetes, OpenStack, and a million CPU cores, Walmart’s super cloud is now unstoppable 💪.

But how did they do it? Walmart built an abstraction layer 🧙‍♂️, making the underlying infrastructure look the same for developers, like Doctor Strange casting a spell across multiple dimensions (or clouds, in this case). The result? Walmart’s applications can now move seamlessly between clouds!

So, what are the superpowers of Walmart’s cloud platform? 💥 They can:

  • Manage capacity like Hulk handles weightlifting 🏋️‍♂️
  • Use the best-of-breed technologies like Iron Man’s genius tech skills 🤖
  • Improve performance by bringing computational power closer to users, just like how Quicksilver dashes with lightning speed ⚡
  • Save money, kind of like how Ant-Man shrinks his expenses 🐜
  • Improve reliability, experimentation, and negotiation powers while providing guardrails for their developers, like Captain America leading the Avengers 🇺🇸

So, did Walmart defy all advice and create a cloud revolution? Not quite. Walmart, like Thor, had the resources, skills, and determination to make it work ⚡🔨. Remember, not everyone can wield Mjolnir! Walmart’s cloud adventure is the exception that proves the rule.

That’s it for today’s thrilling cloud journey with Walmart, folks! Now it’s your turn: What do you think about Walmart’s Cloud Platform and its impact on the cloud landscape? Share your thoughts below! 👇🗨️
