DevOps Culture
Folks, listen up! 🔊 It’s flashback time! ⏮️
Around 2019, I realized I had completed 20 years in IT. And looking back at my journey, I saw that I spent most of my time leading my team in Techno Functional areas and rarely worked on the Culture. But then something happened. Maybe it was the influence of Netflix and Google’s way of running their Infra Teams, but I knew I had to switch things up. I wanted to shift my leadership style from Techno Functional to Cultural Functional. Yeah, it was risky, a precarious move. I had to leave my Technical expertise behind and embrace the practice of Culture, where my career had been built for almost 20 years. There were times when I was anxious and felt a little insecure about that move. 😬
But here we are in 2023, and let me tell you, it was the right move.👍 I gotta give a big shoutout to Kissflow 🎉 for giving us a platform to implement a crazy cultural journey for Team DevOps. I even codenamed it ‘The Journey to Netflix & Beyond!’ 🚀 And I can’t forget to mention my incredible team, including Suresh, Dinesh, Abhishek, Susan, Adhi, Vivek, Rammanokar, Rajesh, and the rest of the gang. They all supported and participated in this crazy cultural journey, and they still do! They were curious to see where it would lead us, & they were hoping that I knew what I was doing! Am I?!
So am I crazy?! Well, maybe a little! 🤪 But stay with me, warriors, because I’m gonna share more about my journey and thought process for building a strong team culture. I’m gonna give you my perspective of the What’s, the Why’s, and a bunch of How’s in the coming days. 💪
