Coffe Bytes with The Cloud
Hello & welcome, tech enthusiasts! Your favorite futurist, Tony Stark, is back for another episode of ‘Coffee Bytes With The Cloud.’ ☕
Okay, listen up, tech geniuses! 💻 Today, we’ll talk about something you’ve been using for a while now, without even realizing it. 🤔 That’s right, I’m talking about the cloud ☁️ & how it’s changed the way we bank 💰!
So, first things first, let’s ask ourselves, how often do we go to the bank these days? 🏦 Probably not as much as we used to, am I right? 😜 And why would we? Standing in line for the teller is no fun at all. 😴
And what about writing checks? 💳 Nah, not so much anymore. Paying bills online is so much easier! 💻
Plus, who even needs to carry a lot of cash around with them these days? 💸 Credit cards are so convenient, & now we can even tap to pay with our watch! ⌚️
Now, imagine a time traveler from the 19th century coming to the present day. 😲 They wouldn’t even recognize what banking looks like today! Back then, depositing your money in a bank meant putting it in a small iron safe. But that wasn’t very secure, as bank robbers loved those safes! 😬
But today, money is just a number stored in a computer. 💻 When we check our bank balance, we don’t think about teams of bank tellers rushing to count our stacks of cash. Nobody thinks that! We all know our bank balance is just a number on a computer.
And when we pay for something with our debit card, the numbers just update on a computer. 💳 It’s that simple! All the numbers are stored & updated in the bank’s cloud ☁️, which is a big building full of computers.
So, what happens when we check our bank balance at an ATM? 🤔 First, we enter our PIN code. Then, the ATM talks to the bank’s cloud over an electronic communication network (think of it like the phone system, but for data instead of voices). The ATM requests our balance, which is then looked up on one of the computers in the bank’s cloud. The computer sends the balance back to the ATM, & voila! There’s your bank balance displayed right there on the screen. 🤩
It’s all about exchanging letters, except instead of paper, it’s all electronic! 📩💻 The ATM sends a letter to the cloud, & the cloud replies with a letter. Some letters are filled with requests, like “send the bank balance for Joe,” while others are filled with information, like Joe’s bank account balance.
And that, my friends, is how the cloud works! 😎 It’s all about storing & exchanging information electronically. Who knew banking could be so high-tech, huh? 🤖
P.S. — Hey there, folks! Check out Swami K’s take on the latest episode of “Coffee With The Cloud” over here 👀. He’s got a unique perspective on all things cloud, and who knows, he might surprise me with some insights! Tune in for the next episode to see what I have in store for you.
